Claims he only wants to sign players who will improve the team and then leaves 150m on the bench. No goals in the first half all season & only 3:all season. That's all down to Moyes's tactics and coaching, even Antonio' admitted it on his podcast.

thomas frank is a good one but I couldn't see him coming to us.
Have we ever appointed a manager who was in a job prior to joining us?

Rodger or Frank or frankly anyone. This manager has been found out doesn't know how to coach the next thing to do.

I would take Poch as he did alright at Soton on a budget and doesn't necessarily need money to throw at building a squad as some managers do. I would certainly take Frank especially if he brought Brentfords recruitment/scouting team with him

I'd still stick with him, feels like we're the closest we've been to winning a trophy than we've been in my lifetime (other than Pards FA Cup run).
There are a lot of questions that are unaddressed though. Firstly - who is making the signings? Is he in partnership with Newman or is he being given players based on what Newman & stat men are suggesting? If he is being given international talent on the cusp of being world class, and he doesn't know how to use them, then he will go eventually.
If he is choosing the players himself and has a plan in place, then he will stay on for the season as long as we aren't cut adrift.
For me personally, as I said at the beginning of the post - I'd stick with Moyes, at least until the World Cup break. At the moment it is too reactionary to sack him after a handful of games following the last two years of success.
However, if the new owners have sounded out a manager of the calibre of Pochetino, Tuchel or even Rodgers, then I would most certainly go for it. Alternatively, if Sulilvan is still in charge of recruitment, then the best we can hope for is Sean Dyche or Rafa Benitez, with the likelihood being Mark Warburton until the end of the season.

Why was last season considered a success? We capitulated after Xmas.

Why are people talking about budgets ? Moyes has spent £180m this summer. Money's not the problem . We are 18th in the running statistics so far this season which explains why were so utterly shite .

He has openly criticised senior players after yesterdays awful performance and rightly so.......but you picked them David.....now grow a pair and start dropping them!

He's been criticising players since the end of last season when we capitulated at Brighton, but has continued to pick the same players week week out and play the same boring ineffective tactics getting the same poor performances and results. His time is up.

Last team in the country to score a goal this season. Only 3 goals scored in 7 games. Only won something like 4 in26 games. Spent £180m. 18th in the league. Missed out an entire transfer window meaning losing out on top European sports.
If that's not a CV for getting sacked I don't know what is

I've defended ('scuse the pun!) Moyes regularly throughout his second tenure - but in recent weeks I just feel like he's descending into that phase we all recognise as being the dying days of a managerial regime.
Under pressure - having been found out by savvy Premier League opponents - he's started to criticise senior players now, because he needs them to perform better and is under pressure from fans, media and others alike. Ordinarily, managers keep that criticism private - keep it on the training ground and in the dressing room - because when you're safe in tenure you need to keep the players on side.
Criticising your senior personnel publicly is often one of the last throws of the dice. It can sometimes work - it can sometimes be the death knell...

So far this season Moyes has blamed; senior players who insists on picking, new and young players who he won’t pick, Benny, Flynn DOWNES and Scamacca especially and the fans.
It’s time for him to go.

In reality, I just think Moyes has run out of ideas.
Or, more accurately, the rest of English football has worked out his Plan A tactics after almost two successful seasons and he has never had a Plan B.
The game doesn't stand still because everything tactics-wise is analysed to fuck these days. But Moyes has stood still. He needs a Plan B and quick.

Re: Moyes Out

Finally, if Moyes wants to save his job - he is hurtling towards the sack with four wins since February - then he probably needs some fresh, and more radical, blood on his coaching staff.
He needs to go against all of his conservative and defensive instincts and appoint a far more forward-thinking/attacking coach to his team.
At the moment, the coaching staff are all mini clones of Moyes and are very set in his ways. That's fine when the going is good, because tactically they are on the same page. But the approach they all espouse has been worked out. They need to be jolted out of their comfort zone.
Fresh blood, fresh ideas and some new thinking. If Moyes doesn't adapt, then he'll be gone within weeks.

Thing is southbank, when you have left wingers like Benrahma and Cornet why do you play a central midfield, dog slow, Fornals in that position? Even move Antonio there if you don't fancy Benrahma or Cornet starting but Fornals? Weakens the attack but strengthens defence because that is all Fornals does there. He chases everything which puts him in front in Moyes' mind.
If Antonio moved LW Scamacca could have started up front. To my mind Scamacca, Antonio and Bowen would easily give Paqueta players to pass to and terrify oppositions.
Moyes settles for defensive endeavour from Fornals who is most games quite frankly awful.
Same as Soucek. He's simply not good enough and nothing like the player of 2 years ago. In Moyes mind he seems to be his Fellaini from Everton and Man Utd days but he's turned into a liability.
Managers need to be stubborn at times but I wonder whether Stewart Pearce and Alan Irving would have discussed team selections with Moyes before they decided?

Re: Moyes Out

I agree with almost every word of that, Willtell.
Right down to trying Antonio as a wide-left attacking player (he played there regularly for Forest), as a further goalscoring threat alongside Scamacca down the middle. I think the two of them, with Bowen right and Paqueta in the #10 slot behind them in midfield, would be a genuine handful for anybody.
And you're right: if you don't play Antonio wide then at least play Benrahma or Cornet there. Fornals is wasted in that role, and is surely picked because he will do the hard yards and chase back. But we need more attacking intent in those three front positions.
Playing Fornals wide left reminds me of what Gareth Southgate did with Mason Mount in the Euros - it was basically a more defensive choice in an attacking position.
Fornals ahead of Antonio/Cornet/Benny is akin to Mount in that position ahead of Grealish. It's a square peg in a round hole.

Yeh, time is up. He’s at the stage that its now just inevitable so there is absolutely zero point in delaying it. There is a reason most clubs change manager roughly every three years, things need refreshing. Happens in most other sports too.
The one thing he did well was get us outrunning teams, even that has stopped.
The way he singles out players like Benrahma, and pulls that “what the fuck are you doing” face on the sideline the first time he gives the ball away while passionately defending others more guilty, even though he came on and looked the most likely for us, is the mark of an absolute prick for me. Players can’t enjoy playing for that sort of boss.
Openly telling the media Scamacca isn’t doing enough despite 3 goals in 4 starts, while giving him 10 minutes here and there in the league is a piss take too. How can he get into any rhythm?
He can’t handle a proper squad, and has run his first eleven into the ground while also making us so predictable every week that even Lampard sussed it out.
He also said that he realised in February we needed extra players but decided not to bring any in in January. That is absolutely pathetic and unforgivable. Probably cost us the Europa League. The funds were clearly there too.
Time to go for that alone.

Agree with all that Ron , he has to go now . His post match attack on the players will only end up one way . Sack him now - but don’t replace him with Dyche , Benitez or Warburton .
